FounderJoaquim Manuel da Silva

From a small cereal business bank in the local weekly market in Leiria, Joaquim Manuel da Silva launches in 1959, the foundations for the development of the Jsilva Group.
Born in Leiria on the 28th of December 1932, Joaquim Manuel da Silva is characterized by a futuristic vision, an entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to build unique for his time, characteristics that still remain in the DNA of the Jsilva Group.

1968

1st INDUSTRIAL UNIT
Construction of the first Livestock Feed Factory - Cruz d 'Areia.

With the increase on sales volume, there was a need to build a space which, on the one hand, stores the raw material received and, on the other hand, allows to satisfy the changing needs of consumers regarding animal feed being also able to produce the best livestock feed.

1988

OPENING OF LIVESTOCK FEED FACTORY – POUSOS
Business growth through expansion and modernization of its productive capacity.
The growth of the business and consumer demand resulted in the need to invest in a new industrial unit which, by increasing production capacity to more than 40 tons per hour and modernizing the production process, would allow to respond to market demands.

1991

AGRICULTURAL AND LIVESTOCK EXPLORATION
Launching of new business area - Agrofalco.
Livestock breeding appears as a natural bet of the Group in Alentejo – Portugal, which materialized in the acquisition of Herdade do Falcão, where the production of beef calves in an extensive regime began.

2003

“ROCHA” PEAR PRODUCTION
Agricultural Diversification - Integra

The reinforcement of the bet on the agricultural exploration happens with the beginning of the production of “Rocha” pear at Quinta das Lapas in Torres Vedras, on the West region of Portugal.

2009

ORNAMENTAL STONE TRANSFORMATION
Diversification Strategy Reinforcement - Bloco B

Reinforcing the diversification strategy and recognizing the strategic potential of the transformation and commercialization of ornamental stone’s sector, specifically Portuguese marble, the Jsilva Group entered on this with the incorporation of the company Bloco B.

PORTUGUESE MARBLE EXTRACTION
Acquirement of a Quarry in Vila Viçosa - B Explore

In order to guarantee a sustainable source of raw material, the Group acquires a Quarry in Vila Viçosa, where it begins its exploration of Portuguese Marble.

FACTORY OPENING YOLA, NIGERIA
Internationalization of the Livestock Feed Production Sector - Rico Gado Nutrition Nigeria

With the growth and consolidated experience on the livestock feed market in Portugal, with Rico Gado Nutrição being one of the leading companies in the sector, the Jsilva Group started a strong bet on the African market with the beginning of the 1st Rico Gado Nutrition Nigeria factory.

LAUNCHING THE 1ST STONE OF THE FACTORY IN ABUJA, NIGERIA
Growth of the Rico Gado Nutrition Nigeria Project

With the turnover growth and the achievement of a leading position in the Nigerian sector, there was a need to invest in a new Industrial unit that could increase production capacity and offer more innovative solutions, increasing the market coverage.

LAUNCHING OF THE RICO GADO AGRITEC PROJECT
Reinforcement of the bet on Internationalization

Collecting a wide know-how in the agricultural and agro-industrial sector acquired by the Group over time, Rico Gado Agritec appears as a platform for the internationalization of the Rico Gado brand focused on Africa and Middle East, also providing consulting and development services for agricultural and agro-industrial projects.

LAUNCHING OF THE PROJECT “B PROJECT”
Integration of marble work projects

Responding to the growing needs and challenges of our customers and partners, the B Project arises. In the context of the consolidation and expansion of existing partnerships in external markets, based on quality and innovation, there is a need to offer marble work projects.
